More Hope For A Family

Root 2 Rise has been instrumental in helping the Ayala family adjust to life in America.
Before Root 2 Rise, daughter Jimena said she had several interests in school, but no real focus. Thanks to her experience in Root 2 Rise, she’s now attending Madison College to pursue a degree in education or a related field.
“It was so hard for me to see Jimena struggling, but she found what inspires her. Root 2 Rise motivated her to finish high school. It made the difference. It was a gift,” said her mother, Maria.
Especially helpful were calls from her Partner Teachers, who updated Jimena’s parents on her progress. The $750 stipend was a welcome plus, since immigrants are seldom eligible for programs that offer direct payments.
The Ayala family emigrated from Colombia almost nine years ago, and moved to the Madison area about three years ago. Jorge was a business administrator and Maria was an accountant in Colombia. They now operate a remodeling firm.
The family loves the seasons and friendliness in Wisconsin, although language barriers and leaving friends made the adjustment especially difficult for their daughter. They appreciate the help from friends and organizations, but say the help provided by Root 2 Rise was unique.
